CSSC Dover Area Photographic Competition 2008
Over 200 entries were judged in this years competition from 15 entrants. The care taken having found a good subject was very apparent in many of the photographs. All in all this made for a difficult task in choosing just one in each category. Below are judged to be the best in each of six categories.

Of all 204 photgraphs viewed this one stood out above the rest.
It is not perfect, arguably the boat could have been allowed to pass before taking the shutter and the horizon is slghly out but both these problems could easily be fixed in the computer.

Always a difficult category because it involves comparing chalk with cheese. When your in the right place and at the right time why not take a photograph.  The bird would not have stayed for long so our photographer made the most of the opportunity.

Irene Clark
Panasonic DMC-TZ7
Exposure: 200th second at f 4.4 ISO equivalent 80 Lens 111mm (35mm Equivalent)
46 photographs submitted had no specific category assigned to them. Rather that arbitarily assign them I have kept them separate. This would have been a worthy contender for the architechure category. The subject is clear wthout any distracting cllutter such people in the water nearby and attention has been paid to getting the verticals correct. I noted in many photgraphs were spoiled because not enough attention had been paid to keeping the horizon horizontal.
